Default Ground wire between bed and cab

I was under my truck working on a few things and noticed the wire that is a braided wire is cut in half. Does anyone know what this is for. I have had no problems with no electronic or lights being out. Anyone have and idea what it is for.

It is a back-up chassis ground. I would replace/repair it. You can never have too many grounds!!

I hate to reopen an old thread, but does anyone have a picture of where this bed to cab ground is? I looked under my truck today and found a wire not connected to anything except the cab.
