This is probably the biggest part of off roadin..knowing your truck and knowing how to drive it! I have a 04, and only 2wd and mud is not a problem. Especially with your 5 inch lift and 35's!
As long as you can open your door without the door touching mud you should be fine

if you play in the mud your going to get mud all over the place even in places you cant see. just take the time to wash it off pretty good. that means just about getting under the truck and spraying it down good.

I have gotten my truck stuck many many times and couldn't even open my doors to get out had to climb through the window to get out, its an 02 1500 QC with level kit, body lift and 37's. I haven't broken anything yet and I go mudding regularly. Over a period of time doing that though I have replace a few things like U-joints twice, lower ball joints (they were probably due though 150K on the stock ones), and both cv axles once. But these seem to be normal wear and tear parts that you would have to replace anyways. Also had to replace 1 taillight because a tow strap broke it.

That was out at El Mirage, its about 10 miles from Victorville in California. I hit a 12ft. jump, with about 5 feet of clearance off the ground while I was out there too, and the truck took it like a champ. Nothing broke.

Knowing what the truck can do, and how much stress the parts you've put on it can handle is pretty much the most important part. Driver knowledge is more valuable then the best equipment any day.

ya ive gone out a few times just nothin to extreme, everything seems pretty solid (and i dont even have it lifted yet). truck still seems to go through anything, climbs hills pretty damn good too! figured id just check before i didnt anything stupid. what about my cold air intake though? if mud or water splashes onto that is it gonna get in the engine. I mean obviously i cant submerge it under water but the last thing i want is water in the engine.

As long as you're not underwater or pouring water into the intake, you're not gonna need to worry about hydrolocking the engine too much.
