Default gained 1.5-1.8 mpg w/ DIY CAI

long time reader, first time poster. 2004 Dodge Ram, HEMI, 78,000 miles, Black, crew cab, laramie, leather, cooper ltz, diy cai w/ k&n filter.

Just wanted to say thanks for all the great info.
i drive 60 miles one way at 55mph was getting 17mpg with stock air box and k&n flat air filter.

Switched to a 4" crapper tube (pvc) and a 4" k&n filter. now i get 18.5 to 18.8mpg.

did see 19.5 with a light wind at my back and a fresh oil change.

although i did have a 4" spectre air filter from murrays and it did just as good as the k&n.

keep in mind that all numbers are from the over head display. and i have not manualy checked them

thanks for all the info

Oh by the way i pull a trailer here and there. weights about 8k and i am getting 11-12mpg now. was only getting 9-9.5 before.

The overhead is known to lie, hand check it and let us know the results.

the overhead is not 100% correct but if you are using it for comparing deals like this it is just fine! and thats a great improvment!
