Default Headers

I love the sound of my super truck exhaust. I wanna do the headers now. And tips, long tube, shorties....log style. What type hast the best for performance, will it change my exhaust sound? Better or worse? Will it be alot louder. And are they realy worth the price.

What are the favored brands among you guys....... Thanks again for all the help

I had headers on my old truck and it sounded awesome but, I was constantly replacing header/collector gaskets,I recommend not doing headers personally they just aren't worth the hassle on a daily driver; if it's a weekend toy then ya go for it but you'll know exactly what wrenchs you need to replace gaskets cause you'll be doing it alot!

^^^^ That's why everyone says use factory Mopar gaskets and not the paper junk that comes with most headers.
I like Percy's gaskets. never had any issue's ever.

Believe it or else, both sets of headers I've had, on my '98 Dodge and my current one, I used the supplied paper gaskets and have not had a problem. With the gasket or header bolts. May have to do with the fact I installed mine PROPERLY. Torquing them to spec, then heating them up and re-torquing them while hot. I also check them religiously when I change the oil every 6k miles. Sometimes one or two need a 1/4 turn or so, but that's been about it for over 3 years now.
Now I'm not advocating the use of the cheap paper gasket, I think it's much better to spend the $30 on the nice Mopar ones, and invest in the locking bolts as well. I plan on doing so when/if I have an issue with mine. But if it ain't broke, I ain't about to fix it.

I do own a 3 tourque wrenches and I did it all to spec, I tried every gasket under the sun including the high dollar copper and aluminum ones and they were better but eventually they still burned out. I had this problem on a 1994 Chevy 1500 so maybe the dodges are more forgiving to header gaskets? ( I know go on and get your chevy jabs out of the way )

Percy's Carbon gaskets and Alum. Seal-4-life will NEVER burn out. They may leak if you have a loose bolt, but they are guaranteed!
