Default A little help on towing capacity.

Hello all. I am new to this thread and would like some help. I am looking into buying a 2006 1500 slt 4x4 crew cab(hemi). I have a 26' travel trailer i would like to pull. Is this factory towing package going to be ok in 2wd? I want to make sure the sales people aren't blowing smoke into my tailpipe! Thanks in advance.

What is the weight of the travel trailer? How often and far do you plan on towing it? I'm thinking a 26' model has got to be pretty heavy.
A 2500 would be much better suited to pulling a big trailer and if you could afford it and plan to tow fairly regularly, a diesel would be your best choice by far...

My trailer in question is around 5000 pounds. The distance for towing will vary and it will be only a couple times per summer that we would be pulling. I want to have the power in a truck for minimal towing use, i don't want overkill for the rest of driving.Thats why i want to stick to a 1500 if it has the ***** to do it. I had 1 dealer tell me i wouldnt even know it was there......

If you have the 3.92 gears you will be fine towing that camper with a WDH. If the truck only has 3.55's, it'll be a dog.
