Unhappy Changed rear pads... park brake issue

Changed my rear brake pads and had my rotors turned. All went well except when I was putting the driver side rotor on... the drum bumped the parking brake pad and it fell off... cheap piece of crap...

well i need my truck and really dont want to mess with that drum setup so i put it back together. i cant hear it rub or anything, but it has me worried anyway. it just barley grabs now and will slowly roll backwards on a hill, moves like theres no brake at all forward.

the other thing i'm worried about is that i pull a boat a lot and i use the parking brake at the landing... so is it hard on the transmission to let PARK do all the work??

anyone ever change these pads? do i have to pull off the hub or something.

thanks

I just changed mine about a month ago. Get ready for some fun. I ended up having to pull my axle shafts because the scissor type actuators(what the cable actually hooks to) were both frozen solid. The spring clips I got with the new shoes were junk also, they fell off twice when I was trying to put the rotors back on and adjust the parking brake. They can be put back on without pulling the axles again but it takes a little patience and three hands. All I can say is good luck and if you have any more questions feel free to ask.

The parking brake pad came off when pulling off the rotor. Spent an over an hour trying to get the new linings on. Then realized the pads I got from autozone had holes that did not match the oem. Had to go to Dodge, $90 vs $40. Ended up just replacing the one wheel.

Caution: Using the transmission to hold the vehicle can only lead to problemws. Allways set the brake prior to putting in park.
