I just built my own out of 2x4's and plywood. Routed the edges, spraying it with Herculiner next weekend and it will match the Herculiner in the bed perfectly. The plus side was that it cost a total of $120 to build. That includes the ratchet straps and eye bolts used to hold it in place.

Here is what I have done now. The paint is still drying tonight. It's due to get the herculiner treatment to the top this coming weekend. Then I'll add some water sealer to the bottom and finish it off with some self adhesive foam padding to help form a seal to the bed rails. I plan to have four eye bolts (2 front/2 rear) in the 2x4's. These will allow me to use ratchet straps to strap it down to the tie downs in the corners of the bed.I'll post more pics when that is done.

HTH,
Rough

I've got the peragon cover. It's a slick cover that doesn't change the overall profile of the truck. It's light weight, yet strong, and is easy to install.

Thanks for the compliment. I can't wait until it done. I just picked up the spray gun and herculiner today. Once the bed and cover are sprayed I'll post some pics of the finished product.

Hey Rough.. good idea, and it looks great.. but how heavy will it be compared to an aluminum framed vinyl tonneau?

Short Answer: It will be "really" heavy compared to a Al/Vynil cover
Purchase Al+Vynil Cover = ~$275+ and ~25lbs
Build Wood Cover+Herculiner = ~$120 and closer to 100lbs (very rough estimate)

Long Answer:
I did a lot of research and the cheapest I could find an aluminum frame/vynil cover was around $250 shipped. I didn't want one with snaps so that drove the price up even further. I figured that I could build it and give it a coat of Herculiner for ~$120. I won't be taking it on and off all the time so the weight isn't an issue for me. Add that to the fact I'm Herculining the bed of my truck at the same time, I already had all the tools to pull it off and it was an easy choice for me.

Total Cost to buy tonneau cover + Prof. Spray in Liner = $600-650
Total Cost to build/herc tonnea cover + herc bed = $300
Saving $300-350 = Priceless [sm=lildevil.gif]
