Default Problem with 02 Ram Infinity Door Speakers

Hi guys I'm a newbie here so please be gentle! And I'm from the UK so don't hate me!

I bought my truck about a year ago and the system worked fine. Then the drivers door speakers started popping - dead speaker, fine. However, I purchase some infinity 2 ohm speakers to replace them with and a) they dont fit due to the frame of the replacement 6x9 being a different shape and b) when i tested the speaker to make sure it worked with the factory gear it sounded half the volume of the stock speaker in the passenger door.

As you can imagine I'm completely confused and now to add insult to injury something else wierd is happening. When the car is moving it sounds like the amp that drives the door speakers is cutting in and out as the car shakes about. Literally I'll be driving and I'll have no bass at all, then some, then none.....etc! I think its all down to this door driver being completely buggered!

But the main thing is can someone please explain to me why an infinity 2 ohm 6x9 is kicking out half the volume of a stock 2 ohm infinity 6x9?!! I'm utterly lost and this is driving me completely nuts! I cant listen to anything and i dont wanna hook up the new inifinities in case it does some damage to the amp.

I've read every post i can find on the subject and everyone says rip out the stock system. Well i dont want to rip it out, it sounds nice and i don't do loud music when i drive the truck, i have my custom trans am for that!

So i need a way of getting my stock system to work EXACTLY as the original did. Any ideas?

Rich

I'm not sure about the lack of volume however the amp cutting in and out sounds like a grounding issue. My truck did it when I replaced the back door speakers because the wire had somehow lost the insulation and when I rolled my window down it shorted out the speaker.

I'd check all your wiring just to be on the safe side.
