I would like to know if anybody has any info on swapping out the 545 and putting an allison in place??? I have looked at all the usuals like advanced adapters etc... Havent been able to find and adapter plate to do this. Anybody have any ideas???

Allisons go for under 2,000 on ebay, and i know built 545s go for near 3,000, plus the allison is rated for 650TQ stock... so even a regular rebuild would be fine with a turbo Hemi..

IU believe you could probably make it fit with money and time but, there's the software and the integrated computer stuff with the computers in these trucks that will goose you.

Have personally seen one put in a Dodge 2500 CTD, at a final cost of about $6000. Never seen it attempted in a 1500.

I don't see why it would be that much, if you use the SCT tuner to delete the trans on the stock PCM, the Allison trans w/converter will be about $2,000 (6spd version) $1,700 (5spd) a control module from powertraincontrol is $750, now I can weld any kind of crossmember I would need as long as it will fit under our tunnel but I here the 545 is a large case trans to begin with, so that is good, Driveshaft modification/u-joint,

So you have
$2,000 for trans,
$750 controller,
$cost of getting the flexplate and converter to match up,
$driveshaft mods ~$200?

So possibly hundreds more than a built 545, for a much stronger unit?

Didn't someone on another well known forum, mention the much longer length driveshaft being a problem in this swap?

I would guess the transmissions are similar lengths, even if not modding a driveshaft is cheap... Mine is a single piece dont know why it would need to be longer?

Just a heads up, I think Sheradon is talking about somehow correcting the 2nd prime issue. In otherwards, standalone PCM control. Haven't heard the latest though.

A 4L80 is a much better choice and the adapter and standalone controller are available.
