Default superchips

I have a 06 mega cab hemi and have a super chips flashpaq and the new cortex with a gas mileage setting. Does anyone have any experience with which one actually gives better gas mileage and which setting to use. and yes i know the obvious answer would be the gas mileage setting but it almost seemed to get worse milage on the highway. Any answers guys........

I have tried all the tunes and get the best MPG's with the 91 tune.

update the flashpaq, then both of them will have the same software.

how many more mpg did you notice? and why the f*** would the mileage xs program on the new Cortex run higher rpm at freeway speeds. It seemed to get higher mpg running at stock setting. I am pissed

The mileage xs tune is absolutely worthless. Got the same if not worse mpg as stock. Best mpg is on the 91 performance tune.

I've played around with all the tunes and have made extensive inquiries of others who have. It seems that the XC tune detunes the truck to the point you are giving more throttle to get the mass moving. The ONLY people who seem to get a fuel benefit with the XS tune are those with lighter vehicles, such as 4.7l Grand Cherokee and 2WD Dakota owners. You may see a modest gain out of a 2wd RCSB full size truck, but not a QC 4x4 and CERTAINLY not the way over-weight and IMO underpowered MegaCab gasser. The 5.7 Hemi is a wonderful engine, but is in it's element in the higher rpm range, it's shortcoming is that it is not a very efficient low rpm torque engine (in it's stock form at least).

Don't blame SC, blame your decision to buy that heavy beast you own.

I've calculated the cost per mile driven and even factoring in the higher cost of premium fuel, the Performance tune gives me the most economical choice - providing I stay off the damn throttle, which unless I'm testing against the other tunes and use the same driving habits, I am completely unable to do...

Hey Guys, I've got an 06' 1500 MegaCab Hemi 4x4. So far everything is stock. I found a used flashpaq superchips tuner for $200. I just started looking into mods, but I wasn't sure if it was worth picking this up as a first mod? Or if these types of things are worth buying used or what. Any info is appreciated. Thanks.

As long as you are 100% sure that the vehicle it was used on was reset to stock, thus unlocking their VIN out of the tuner, then there is NO difference between it and a new one. If it's still VIN locked, then it's a $200 paperweight.

and yes, very good starting mod.
