differential question
How do I find out if my 2006 Dodge Ram SLT 4X4 has a limited slip differantial, without pulling the cover off. I am going to change the gear oil in the front and back diff. I see that it calls for an additive in the rear if it has a limited slip. I would prefer not to buy it unless I have to.

Often in loose dirt, an open rearend will spin both.
Here is the easiest way tha always works for me.
Chalk the front tire, put the truck in neutral, jack up one rear tire.
Try to spin the wheel by hand, if it and the drive shaft spin, it is open, if it is locked like the brake is on, it is a LS and the clutches are keeping the axle from turning.
I can actually torque the lug nuts on my Ram and Mustang this way because the clutches work as they should.
