2007 dodge ram 1500 mega cab 4x4
i get about 11 city and 15.5 highway.

If i switch to full synthetic and add an e fan with a high flow muffler and cold air intake what kind of gains could i expect?

o yeah i get my gas at walmart with 10% ethanal. if i switch to 100% unleaded what will all this do? wast of money or worth it.

thanks

I don't think any of those will really improve your gas mileage. I run amsoil synthetic oil and a complete exhaust, and I haven't noticed any mpg improvements. I get about 12 in the city and 14-15 on the highway. I'm actually surprised how poor the hemi does with gas. It's not much of an improvement over the ancient 360 motor in my old truck. I guess the only advantage to it is that it has infinitely more horsepower and refinement.

I have an 05 4x4 qc. I run mobil1 full synthetic oil, have a true dual exhaust with an x-pipe, and a CAI, and I get anywhere between 13.5 and 15mpg. Remember though, mine is an 05 and doesn't have MDS like yours.

Drove home from Stone Harbor this afternoon, about 120 miles and averaged 21 mpg according to the pen and paper method. This was a 100% highway drive at around 70 the whole way so I was very happy with those numbers. Best mod for improving my MPG's has been the e-fan.

mega cabz dont support mds cuz they are too heavy to switch into v4 lol.

Ive done a lot of things to get better MPGs and the best was to keep it under 2k RPM but if I do that I find my truck slow, boring and quiet. So I am usually 3-4k.

Well, if you put synthetic in the engine, that will save you about 3-4 friction hp. In the trans and rear end and you'll free up a total of 10hp. I have AMSOIL from stem to stern now. The efan will be the most noticable difference, but I can't give you any mpg numbers, as I swapped at about the 4k mile mark. At that time, mileage is still improving... The muffler will not do much until you install a good Y pipe from Flowmaster or Magnaflow. If you replace the hemi hat (plastic box) in front of the throttle body as part of the CAI, you can expect about 10hp. MPG, I don't know? If you install a power wire, that will help. It's worth about 1 mpg from what I've seen.
The ethanol is costing you about 10% mpg, as it does not pack as much energy as pure gasoline. It does have higher octane though, and costs less. I suggest Conoco, if it is available down there. Our base gets fuel from Flying J, and when I switched I got another 1.5 mpg.
Aerodynamics is the key to good highway mpg. I will try to take a couple pix of my aero mods if you like.
Our trucks are heavy. Mine is 5200 pounds. With a 4x4, you will not get great city mileage. I only get about 12mpg city with my truck. On the highway at 65mph, I am up to 23 right now. I just installed a Superchips w/87 tune, so once the PCM readjusts, I will check again...
[edit] MDS is Chrysler's multi-displacement system. The engine will switch to four-cylinder mode during certain types of operation.

The mega cab's may not be the best place to try an e-fan.

Your Mega cab is more or less a 2500 in disguise, you aren't gonna get very good fuel numbers regardless of what you do.(I hate to tell you this but the factory MPG calculator is a bit generous) The best thing you can do to get better milage is probably the efan, but in all honesty if you want better milage get somone with a honda Civic to drive you around, lol

Also Dan welcome to the forum, and thanks for your service to this country!
