Cool New Here..

Hey everyone, Ive had my truck for about 4 years it is a 2004 1500 Base except for the stuff I have added to it like the sound system. V6 is alright. I dont mind the gas mileage. But the power is a little on the underside. Today I changed the Spark Plugs, and cleaned the Throttle Body "with throttle body cleaner" while I was at it.. kinda gunky, later on in the day it had a better throttle response. I added "Lucas Injector Cleaner" To my gas tank. I also Plan on flushing the Trans, putting on a new belt, and flushing the radiator and coolant. Do you guys have any "suggestions" I am pretty much a DIY guy and dont like going to shops except for transmission stuff. I also want to get as much power out of my little V6 as possible...

Welcome to the forum. I don't know how well Lucas injector cleaner works, but as long as it has enough PEA in it like redline sl-1, techron concenctrate, and gumout regane it should help some. How many miles are on your truck?

There are a few things you can do to your truck to improve performance, I have quite a few performance mods listed in my sig. A couple things I haven't done yet are a fastman ported throttle body and jba headers. The only tuning options for the v6 are the jet chip or a B&G tune. Unless you have a B&G shop nearby you will have to ship your pcm off to have it done or buy a spare to send them, so it is the more expensive and I don't know of anyone who has done it for the v6.

Hey Chambers, it has about 74 thousand. Its been to texas and back a few times. Thanks for the help man. I Think the new Throttle Body is a good Idea, but I need a cold air intake first and Need to get rid of the stock exhaust. I was thinking dual in getting rid of this Y pipe and switching to a magnaflow. Do you have any sound vids of your truck yet? But hey man nice truck.. I hope to get more pics of mine up on here soon.

There is more maintenance for your mileage like changing the pcv valve (cheap and easy), change the differential fluid, and you may want to change your brake fluid or have a mechanic do it.

I took a vid when I first got my exhaust here http://img190.imageshack.us/i/dsci0001.mp4/. It seems deeper now than it did when I took that video so maybe it gets a little deeper once it's broken it. I didn't really think about the size of the muffler when I got it, but you want to get a bigger one, at least an 18" magnaflow. I got the 14" dual in single out w/ the y-pipe cut out and some new pipe bent and ran into the muffler for $280 out the door. Although I've mostly gotten used to it, it can still get on my nerves on a long trip and drone while cruising.

By far, the two BEST things that you could ever do for the truck are to get a CAI so that you can remove that STUPID restrictive heat collector on top of the throttle body, and chop off that entire exhaust. The main way that Dodge limits their motors is by restricting the flow of air both in and out.
