Default I just installed my trans guage...Ground question?

Hey guys i just installed my trans guage......My question is in the DIY for the guage install it says you need to have a ground near the sending unit (6. You need your ground wire near the sender. So I ran another wire (the same way I did before) and used a the metal part of my tranny as the ground.)????? how is this done and why? Because there is already a ground from the guage

Did you just throw a splice connector on the sending unit wire and ground it to the tranny?

Any help is great thanks

You don't need 2 grounds, just one so that it can ground to operate the gauge. It will work with both, just only need one.
