i got an 03 ram 1500 5.9 and was looking to replace the exhaust. i am looking for something with a nice deep sound but loud as hell when i stand on it. anybody got any sugestions? maby duels out the sides or straight out the back?

 

Personally i have a magnaflow SI/DO running straight out the back. Not too loud at idle or running around town but she stands out when i hammer it.

Exhaust cutout, very loud when you give it the gas. Here is a little vid I made of mine a while back. It should give you an idea of what it sounds like when cruising as this vid was shot with the rpm's at about 2500.

Cant go wrong with a cutout, nice and loud when you want it to be. The Borla XR-1 sounds sick as well....

Did you ditch the cutout? Also, do have a vid from a little farther away so we can get a better idea of what that setup sounds like?

 

The valve is sitting on my work bench, it needs cleaned up a bit and I have been to lazy to just do it and put it back on, I do like the sound of the borla over the cutout though. As for the video, the other one I have is in the cab, I couldn't do a drive by as my neighbors are a little pissed at me after the last one. I'll get one though as soon as I can get out to the open air strip then I can let it rip.

my straits out the back with 5inch tips are really loud but have alot of DRONE!!

 

I have the cherrybomb vortex on a 5.9 and it sounds great!

 

That is my only complaint about the cutout, the sound is absolutely great and loud as hell, but while it sounds nice with the windows down flying down the road, with the windows up, it sounds like its shaking the cab apart. I wouldn't call it a drone though.
