Hey just doing some day dreaming and was wondering if anyone had added dually wheel adapters on a 1500 Ram?

I just think a dually is cool (I miss my old 1997 F-350 dually did a lot of work to it), but can't afford a 3500 dually for a while. With those new smaller dually fenders that Dodge has now verses the big old style ones I think it would look sick.

Back in the day I read a artical in a truck mag. and chev made a s10 crewcab dually. I still have the artical, sick looking truck. I would be in on doing that to my Ram if it were 2WD.

 

just to make it a dually? or you talkin 22.5 alcoas? you would need to swap out to 8 lug somehow only way i kno is to swap rear and front end with a 1 ton.... i dont think they make wheel adapters from 5 to 8 lug?

 

that would look sick mean. found a company a while back but the new fenders were like 8 or 9 hundred $. was gonna put some super singles on my truck.

 

that would be pretty sweet. i put my other set of tires the other day against the ones on their and it looked real mean. i wish they did have kits for us

 

wouldnt be safe anyway... having dually wheels using adapters which are usually made from aluminum is a good way to snap the lugs off since 5 into 8 x 2 wheels/tires that are upwards of 3 times heavier over all than the existing tire/wheel combo. Plus you run a much greater chance of breaking an axle due to the same thing but because of traction difference. Your current setup will break free when the proper amount of torque is applied therefore saving your axles from snapping... now add the extra weight and traction surface area to the equation and that means somethings going to break alot sooner.

 

swap 1 tons or buy a 1 ton

 

I remember when I was growing up there was a guy in town that had duals on a Chevy Luv. Yea, an old Luv. It was pretty ridiculous

 

yeh I say if you want the look of a 1-ton dually then you should go buy one since building one from a half ton really makes no sense at all.

I remember a guy back home who's Dad had built a dually military ****** jeep. He centered and welded a 6" pipe spacer between two 15" wheels for each side of the rear of the jeep.

I did read up on using some adapters for just the back axle and you keep the front wheels and hubs the same. Then you use regular steel wheels for the inside duals and run your regular wheels on the outside.

Yeah didn't think about the strain on a 1/2 ton 5-lugs, don't need a accident down the road.
