I have a friction mount and it sits on the dash. Then, of course, I remove it when I park. Remember not to leave the GPS in the car.

i have a garmin. their suction cup mount is pretty nice, has a little lever behind the cup that you flip back or forth to move the center of the cup. put it on the window, flip the lever, it's stuck.

i hardly ever use it, but if I do it goes on the windshield right next to the rearview mirror. I think someone on here had a tint strip across the top of their window and had wired the charger cord for the navi into the power going to the mirror. so you could keep it up there all the time, charged, and hard to spot from the outside.

it would drive me nuts if i had it in front of the tach.

I modified the suction cup mount and built it into the overhead center console. I put a power switch between the lights, disassembled the power cable and put the 12vdc to 5vdc board inside the console cover, drilled a hole so the red light still shows, and ran the end of the power cable out the passenger side of the cover. For the mount itself, I drilled a small hole between the controls for the factory display and put the mount there. End result is the GPS is up high, doesn't interfer with the rearview mirror, and only partially blocks the center console display.

Exactly where mine is (on the Ram). On top and centered on the dash for my Mazda and the 300

I mounted mine right here...

https://dodgeforum.com/forum/members...avigation.html

As far as my situation goes it works well for me. It doesn't block my view at all and I can use my periphrial vision to check it while drive so I never really have to take my eyes off the road. When I'm not using it I just hide the unit and mount and all that's visible is the disk. I personally don't like to mount it to the windshield because it just seems to be in my way and I've seen some windshields that have a residue ring from have a GPS mounted on the windshield. Windshield mounts won't hold up to my area's roads anyway.
