Default chrome rims not chrome????

I did not know that my stock 20" chrome rims werent really chrome! I read online that they are actually plastic covers. Is anyone else dumb like me? But now i know they are plastic im alittle happy b/c i should have no problem painting them black. Whats the process for painting these plastic rims? Do i just lightly sand then prime then use plastic paint? Would i use gloss black then clear or flat black then clear or gloss black and no clear?

yep chrome clad....you should try to sand all of the chrome off, then paint. use what ever paint you like. adhesion promoter, base, and a good top coat. duplicolor makes one just for wheels now

I'm pretty sure my 17"s are plastic covers too but I could be wrong. I don't know how to get them off but I don't know what they would look like painted.

yeah dodge dropped the ball with those. They are easy to paint look in the DIY section for offroad teachers post to paint them (this is what I used). If you follow the directions you cant mess them up.
