I was looking around for anything suspicious on my truck today, trying to fix my check engine ligh and found this mystery loose orange wire. Can anybody help me figure out what it is for?

Not sure if this is related but my truck is throwing code p0132.

I have the same wire on my 08...dont worry about it. Ide like to know what it is also

 

I think it goes to the hood light if you have the preferred option group. Mine dead heads at a connector.

 

I checked voltage of the orange wire and it only gets 5volts. Strange

 

power antenna ?

 

The hood light comes up on the drivers side on my truck.

 

The orange cable is labeled in my truck next to the PCM as P.T.O. which is for power take off. Not sure why it's put in the 1500's since there's no P.T.O. option on your trucks. It's just there.

 

Maybe they use the same harness on the 2500s and 3500s

 

I think my '03 has it as well. It's kind of a sloppy install. I figured the PO wired up something, then took it out.
