Default stereo install

Hi all just got the kenwood dnx6140 for my o8 ram. and got a couple questions.

i got the wiring harness all hooked up pluged it all together and the unit wont turn on. i dont have the infinity system. there is a little red light that is flashing on the upper left hand of the unit. but i was wondering if im going to have to wire it in without the harness or some parts of it. like to a different power source or something like that.

any help would be great thanks.

check with a meter of u have 12v on the lead and ignition then the ground. check those three, sometime the harness isnt correct even though it plugs in so some of the colors maybe mixed up

it may be that the infinty system is controlled by your canbus computer and it wont recognize and aftermarket stereo.

was the headunit brand new? If it was a used headunit there may be a anti-theft programing that is keeping it from powering up My old head unit had that if the headunit lost all power it would lock itself incase it was stolen and the only way to unlock it was put in a specific CD that you put in the first time when setting up the headunit.
