If anything I would say more air in the tires. You truck is under a lot of load going throw the sand. Event more than mud. How many pounds are you running? Most of the time when I was in nc on the hard packed sand I didn't event air down.

Watch out for the needles. I have never been on N.J. sand. Just N.C.

All of N.J. dirty! Plus sand is hot as hell which adds to the heat.

High way tires a/t m/t? If this sand is that soft it sounds like your stuck. But your stat should have open up.

if your temp rises to 3/4 but is still in the normal range I wouldn't worry about it too much as you're putting more load on the engine than normal, of course the temp is going to go up a bit. Air down your tires a bit but I wouldn't go under 20-25psi, the purpose it to increase the tires footprint on the sand so it float on top of the sand more. Putting more air in the tires is counter productive and also a joke we used to pull on friends rigs before they woke up in the morning to watch them get stuck... Also, like mud, keep forward momentum. This is for deep sand, if the sand is shallow with hard pack under it keep your tires fully inflated as they'll cut through the sand and grab the hard pack underneath.
