then you want an electric cutout but for now go by a clamp and a generic 20 muffler to queit it up and you will be good and take it off till you are able to get a cutout

 

Call a small local muffler shop and tell them you want them to put on an old muffler(they always have some) for your test and then cut it off and make it like it was before. I don't know if the big chain stores will do this but they might. I used a small muffler shop near the DEQ testing facility. Didn't cost hardly anything either.
