Default Are ported throttle bodies worth it?

Going along the lines of my other thread in preparation for a cam install, I am curious what all a ported TB will do for me with the addition of the cam. Is it worth it?

Mythoughts are that a ported t/b will increase your initial throttle response.
Unless it's ported from beginning to end where the entire opening is widened, then WOT increases aren't going to be had.

I ported my mustang t/b around the butterfly area where it meets the body. The result was a very touchy gas pedal off the line. Top end was identical on the dyno. i hogged out the sides of the throttle body where the butterfly opened. That allowed more air for the same gas pedal presure, but again, this is only benefitiing low end.

More like trying to figure out if half a tenth in the 8th is worth spending $300 on.

A cam is gonna give me a bit more than half a tenth in the 8th.

Here's a pic of what I am talking about.
The "Ported T/B" is merely diggin a trench where the plate begins to open. This allows much more air to pass by the butterfly plate compared to stock. Which is why it gives much better throttle response down low.
As you can clearly see that because of the internal diameter remains the same, there is no gain in CFM flow at WOT.

A simple dremel tool with some time in the garage can save some good chunk of change.
Worth $300. Not IMO. unless the diameter itself increase. Like from 83mm-86mm. Then there is a WOT increase to be had

This is the one I was sort of looking at from moes

http://moesperformance.com/index.php...ducts_id=12224

They say its suppose to be ported to 85mm where Im not to sure.

Also dirtydog, when you ported yours with a dremel did you have to replace the plate inside? If you made the full inside of the throttle body larger wouldn't that plate need resized as well?

I checked there first, they dont list the 5.7 on the main page for TB's they work with. Dont know if they stopped or if its a special order for them or what.
