i finally got my new 6000k hids installed but as soon as i got home i noticed that the right headlight is already not working. also the guy said that because of the truck, that i have to have the stock bulbs on too. so i have hids and the stock lights in. Is this true? they are super bright tho.

i just have hid bulbs and mine work just fine...

 

i just had mine done last night and i dont have the stock bulbs anymore we had to tie the resistors in tho to stop the flickering and whatnot

 

i think he said something about the resisters too but i wasnt really paying attention. i mean they work good, im worried their too bright. but i wanted the blue look and its just white

 

yeah the 6000k has a really small hint of blue i was torn between these or the 8000k and i opted for the 6 they are nice tho, i just gotta find where i have to hook another resistor to get rid of the lamp out warning

 

Here is how it works, the truck looks for a certain resistance that normally comes from the filament in a halogen bulb. That why if a bulb goes out the computer can detect it and let you know by displaying the Lamp Out light on the dash. As you know, HIDs use special mixture of salts and high voltage to produce a light from plasma. So in other words there is no filament that gives resistance. So that is why people use the resistors to simulate the usage of stock bulbs.

The HIDs so put out a good bit of light and make sure you aim them down a bit to help oncoming traffic. Aftermarket projectors would really be the way to go. That would give you a focused pattern of light with a cut off rather than a scattered pattern.

True projectors will use D2S/D1S bulbs and you can but then on ebay for $20 shipped.

If you ever get serious and want to do them just LMK. The only thing you will need is the projectors, shrouds, D2S bulbs and adapters. Thats maybe $200 in material.
