Default flowmaster muffler

Im getting a new flowmaster 50 series HD muffler for my 04 1500 ram. I was just curious to see what yall thought about the sound, the price, and anyother information yall may have.

I have never personally heard one or had one but I have heard good's and bad's about Flowmasters. One of the bad's is that they rust out quickly and I have also heard they drone and create too much back pressure. Then again some guys swear by them so idk.

Heard the same thing..rust out very quickly and the sound is not that good. Alot of guys in here run the magnaflow or the cherrybombs i do believe. I personally have the magnaflow and my truck sounds beautiful and i have never had a problem with it. Good luck on shoppin.

This is one of those preferential things man. Youre going to get both sides of the spectrum depending on who you ask. Like he said, some people hate them and some people love them.

I have one on my truck because that is what was on it when I got it, and they do rust (I dont know how quickly this one did bc idk how long they had it), but it sounds good on my truck in my opinion. No one has ever told me that it sounds bad.

Literally just had my FM 50 HD pulled off my truck. Was up there for 2 years, rusted through down here in the South (No Salt in the winter). Anyway, the sound was ok, MDS is horrid, but you don't have that on an 04 so no worries there.

I had it replaced with the Cherrybomb Vortex. The CB is a little quieter and a LOT less drone in the cab from 50-60mph that I didn't even really notice was there until it was gone... I'm now a believer of Cherrybomb exhaust as long as this one doesn't rust out on me... lol.. Now I just need to update my signature...

Cherrybomb shipped to my door - $52
Installed for $20

$72 total cost for the swap and I'm much happier.

so is there much difference between a stainless alumanized muffler than just regular stainless when it comes to flowmaster?

Dump the FM and go with aftermarket. Same internals as FM. I put a 3in exaust with a powdercoated Jones performance muffler 3in 3out, it might have some drone but gives a nice sound at high speeds. Doesnt hurt my ears or echo in the cab. I probably spent around $50 bucks for the muffler plus its coated to prevent rust.
