Check your oil for water, kind of a yellowish color, change your oil and look for the yellowish color. Check yyour spark plugs for for oil on them, might do a compression test on all cylinders. Might do a radiator leak down test. That about all I know to check for.

Then rev back up to the 2500-3K rpm's.
If she smokes, that's the problem.
Another way to test this is, if you go down a looooong steep bank and your engine braking, then accelerate as you get to a close level stretch and watch your tail pipe.
It should be puffing smoke out.
There are better more certain tests, but this will point you in the right direction.
Hope this helps?

yep, this makes it smoke..so if its the valve guide and seals, what kind of price am i looking at to fix this? and is this a major problem or more of an annoyance? Let me also add that other than that, the truck runs perfectly fine, just like the day it was new... thanks again

You can get new seals and valves done with the heads still on the truck if the mechanic uses air. Still going to be pricey though. I wouldnt wait long in getting it done. It can cause more damage, and burn up your catalytic converter. I had a supercharged f150 HD truck that had the same thing happen.

To be honest, I'm English and live in the UK, so I can't help you out with a price?
Some one on here, will hopefully chime in and help you on that one.

Me personally, I'd pop the heads off and get a real good valve and seal job, with them off.
You can't beat a good......... ahem........head inspection?????? lmao.

Seriously, that's the way to go and you can look at if there's any other probs with the heads pulled like that.

I'd still get a compression check or a leak down test done. Again, I can't remember which one will pin the problem down, but someone will chime in.
It's so long ago since I had to think about all this stuff.
I think worn piston rings can also give you this problem, so you need to pinthings down?

Anyway, good luck and post up what you find.
All the best.
Al.
