Default Update

Well I was only able to get the sway bar, spark plugs and TB Cleaned this weekend. I was close to doing the headers but ran into a few kinks along the way (mainly because no one carries an 18mm nut to weld onto the exhaust pipe) so that will have to wait a little longer.

The sway bar was a fun install though, total pain in the *** to do on your own laying on your back (my friend decided last minute to back out). The hardest part is getting the bar attached to the axle. The thing weighs about 30lbs and the instructions on what side is the right side and what part attaches to what plate was a bit of a pain, and torquing the nuts down to 50ftlbs is a pain to do with very little clearance too... Other than that though everything went on very smoothly. As for handling.... It is SOOOOOOO much better than it was. It no longer rocks side to side as bad as it did and the body roll is very minimal.

Here it is all buttoned up:

Only issue Im thinking Im going to have is the on the passenger side, my dump pipe is dumping really close to the rubber bushings. I felt it after taking it for a drive to make sure everything was still tight and it was hot to the touch. So I'll have to check it tomorrow after I get off work to see how its doing. May have to angle it a little more downward if I can.

how much was the sway bar? and does it handle a million times better now? does it feel like your driving a lowered civic?

If possible try wrapping up the link in question with some adhesive reflective tape that shoud deflect most if not all of the heat away from the bushing. You could also use a reflective header wrap and zip tie it up aswell.

You can get it for $219 at Moes, the waiting time on it was quite a while when I checked, or $237 from Summit and it was at my door 2 days later. No it does not drive like a lowered civic lol but it feels a hundred times better than it did. Little to no body roll going around corners, overall ride stiffened up a bit too.

The issue with the exhaust isn't as simple as moving it forward a bit more then dumping it. Right now it is not getting the full blast of the exhaust but is sitting just off to the side of it where it is getting some heat. I checked it after getting to work this morning and after driving 75mph all the way here nothing appears to be melted, but with the tension that are on those rods I doubt it would last very long if I kept it up. I need to stop by a performance auto shop on my way home to pick up a few things anyways so I will check on the header wrap.

Overall though this is a fun mod.

If you take it to a good exhaust shop, they can rerun that over the driveshaft then over the axle the way it should be. I know my exhaust man would charge about $30-40 to do it, and maybe 20 minutes of your time...

Truckin, glad to hear you're liking the sway bar. I'm planning on installing one Friday when I switch out my shocks....
