Default Gas Gauge Issue

I noticed yesterday when I filled up that my gauge didn't read that I put any fuel in and after about 5 minutes it slowly started to rise. I don't know what would cause this. It has done this before and then it stopped but now its happening again.

Ive seen it happen on mine once or twice. Usually i can cut the engine off and back on and it will begin to register the new level of fuel. IDK why though.

I know my old truck did that quite often. I found out later that the ground strap for the bed was broken. I replaced it and never had any issue's after.

yeah its def the bed grounding strap, mine had the same thing happen like three fill-ups in a row, and someone from work said to just turn it off and turn it back on, and yes its a quick fix, but i happened to be putting on my new dual exhaust and noticed the grounding strap in two pieces just dangling, so i replaced with a nice heavy gauge wire you would use for wiring up a battery, and left a little extra so it could flex, and no problems since!

That must be it, when I took the grandpa boards off I let it dangle cuz I didn't know wtf it was. I figured a ground but my tailights worked with it unhooked so I just said screw it. I'll go reattatch it.
