Sounds cool I'll be watching for the pics. Mine won't do too much to protect against water as it only covers the back half of the filter but that's what the filter sock is for.

well like i said, i already had an idea of what i was doing. and i have a pretty good eye, so i dont measure anything before i cut it. and ive been out in the garage for the past hour fiddling with it. i took the lower intake arm off the lower half of the factory airbox and retro-fitted it to the new heat shield/airbox. so now i get a steady blast of cool air comin up from the bottom, such as you would with the factory airbox.

Here's what mine looks like after installing it. (Oh I suggest you never install it after dark, takes too d*** long and yeah . . . LoL I wont be doing that again). I've got my eye on getting a filter sock since winters coming and it seems like we're finally going to get some rain some time in the near future.

And yes at WOT I'd have to say I hear in this order, initial exhaust accel - tb whistle - exhaust 3k+ - then air intake takes over and really roars.

Hey man, hows that thing getting any air? Open up that front right corner and let the AIR IN Reposition the filter so it points at the opening in the fender and keep the cover towards the front. Thats all you really need for protection to water, the other two sides are for heat protection. Unless you are gonna be a hard core offroader I don't see a problem with water...

Here's mine
