Default looking for some performance

ok so i've been gone for a few months. i'm thinking of adding a little power to my '07 4.7 (wish i would've got the hemi). i'm not looking to make it a race truck or melt my tires but am tired of struggling to make it up hills. it's the thunder road with 3.92s and all stock. the only time it'll hit 5th gear is going down hill. pulling my 3500lb. trailer is a struggle too. i get 9 mpg pulling it as it stays in 3rd gear at about 3500 RPM, even on the highway. my step-father has an '08 hemi and just bought a 9500lb. camper and gets 10-11 pulling it.
so what are my options while still maintaining my warranty? i'm not looking for anything internal, just plug-n-play. i've never used a tuner so the only one that i'm familiar with is the superchips.
my goals are a little more power and a little better mileage wouldn't be bad but i definitely don't want to lose any mileage.

id start with a free flowing exhaust i have a f/m but i would recommend magnaflow or the at3030 also a cold air intake will help http://cpwstore.carpartswholesale.co...S-V218205.html this one is a great deal i have this best bang for buck and you can also make a powerwire theres a diy in the faq section for your application a superchips would be best cause your not looking into doing internals i dont currently have one but i do have the same 4.7 with 3.92 but i live in fl not many hills and i get good gas milage i get about 13mpg and my trucks not slugglish like some complain about also how long has it been since you had a good tune up maybe some ngk plugs might help you i use the v power ones they run cool and work great i hope this helps you outy if you need more ideas just ask .....

Without doing any internals, your best bet is to get it breathing better. Start with a good quality cat-back and a CAI or at least a good aftermarket drop in air filter, then get a good tuner. Of course, re-gearing would give you better towing performance.

If you did want to go internals, look at the Mopar components that are standard in the 4.7 H.O. engine. Since these are Mopar parts, they should NOT effect your warranty.

These components will work up thru the '07 engine. For a list of the upgraded components and their Mopar part number and list prices, look here:

And why not? LOL

I know the H.O. is only rated at about 40 HP and 40 TQ more than standard 4.7 (and I only say "only" because if you look at all the stronger, higher end parts you'd expect more gains) but it's a LOT stronger engine for durability.

I know performance shops drool over the H.O. with the better intake, shorty headers (that's really what they are, even though Mopar doesn't choose to call them headers), forged crankshaft, stronger pistons, lifters, larger injectors, etc.

This engine can take things like superchargers and turbos with basically no internals needing to be upgraded.

I have had both 4.7s in WJs, the ex's and my current Overland. The 40 HP feels like a LOT more to the butt dyno...

It's funny, I didn't even want a 4x4 or the 4.7 when I was shopping for a daily driver GC. I just happened to step into a steal and got it for over $5k below KBB. Less than I could find a comparable 2wd, I6 for. But the 4.7 HO gets me about what the 4.0 I6 got in my ex's '98 GC, MPG wise and for some reason, a tad better than her '02 4.7 4x4.

I'm sold on the HO now. And hell, EVERYTHING I've added to my Hemi truck (performance wise) and plan to add (like cam, etc.) is already in the HO out of the factory.

Only mods I've done (not counting cosmetic or lift) on the GC was to replace the paper filter with a drop in K&N and go full synthetic everywhere and I have NO plans to take it any further, unless I step into a bunch of $ and get another DD and decide to put a blower on it. NOW THAT would be awsome!!! Especially with the lockers, I bet that sucker would scoot off the line!!!

it only has 10,400 miles and has been a dog since day one so the tune up is not the problem. adding a K&N might help but i've used them before and never really felt like i got much out of them. is the whole CAI better? how about the CAI with the superchips? big difference? warranty issues?
i don't tow that much so i can deal with that but the every day driving is bad on hills.

IMO the 4.7 (at least the pre-'08 model) should not have been offered in a QC 4x4.

There is no real magic easy bolt on mod (or combination) that is going to make a dramatic difference in power.

The CAI/Cat-back/Tuner combo is about your best bet (especially if you are concerned with warranty) but still will NOT turn an engine you view as a "dog" into something that will impress you.

The 4.7 can be built up into a really solid performer, but not inexpensively...

you can go to www.airram.com and they have a whole site based on dodges and i believe it was based around the 4.7s.. that would be a good place to start
