Default Black chrome question

I'm thinking about powdercoating all my chrome to be black chrome. What do you guys think about that? Will it loook good or foolish? It would be just the grill and front and rear bumpers. The rest of the chrome would come off.

I think it would look kickass...i have a fire engine red 06 and its got the gray 20's and the grill is chrome as well as the front and rear bumper. I really want get all those components painted black. Along with the "RAM 1500" on the side which is also chrome. I gotta get some pics up but i think that your truck would look awesome with the components you listed powdercoated black.

lol, you can't get black chrome through powder coat, only way is through plating. In order to make your chrome parts black chrome, the original chrome will need to be stripped off. It's extremely difficult to do without imperfections and it's not cheap. You also won't be able to do any plastic parts. Other thing is it doesn't hold up nearly as well as normal chrome plating due to a high percent of it being nickle.

Just go for straight black. It will look good on your truck and will go with the rest of the black you have on your truck.

The only problem with going straight black is that my truck is the brilliant black from the 06+ rams. I have heard mixed things about powdercoating. Some say black chrome can be powdercoated and some say it has to be plated. I'll have to look into that as well. I'm also not looking to chrome any plastic. My grille is metal unlike the stock ones.
