Question Question about plugs

Dealership wanted to charge me $300 for a tune up. Told him hell no. He did offer advice to me when doing it myself. He said to not use any of the platinum plugs or any of the other fancy plugs. Said to only use the regular ol' Champion plugs rated for 30K miles. He said that guys try to use fancy plugs all the time but always end up with problems.

Anyone out there attest to this?? I was planning on doing the tune-up but wanted to be absolutely sure that I shouldnt use the fancier plugs. I guess I would have no problem with using the regular Champions, but it would be nice to not have to worry about another tune-up for another 100K miles.

Any help/advice would be great!

The guy is shooting it to you straight. A lot of people report problems with the platinum plugs. Stick the cheap old Champions in there and relegate yourself to changing them every 30k...

I pulled my stock Champion 507s out and put the same back in. They were less than $2 a plug. They arent hard to change either. Just do one coil pack at a time and you will need to remove the tire and well liner to get to them.

NGK Iridiums for over 44K miles.
Not a hicup.
However +1 on the Plats.

NGK 5306s here. If you can DIY, that'll save you $270 or so.

I use champions. I upgraded to Taylor wires while I was changing the plugs, and I have had no problems what so ever.

I used the regular Champions when I did mine. Never had a problem.
