A few things about the 6.1 intake that I have heard that you will want to look into is that A.) it does not line up with the intake ports on the 5.7 so you need to find a way around that and B.) I believe it moves the power band to the upper rpm range, which for the cars is great but with our trucks it can actually end up hurting performance more than helping it so it be worth reading up quite a bit on it before dropping that kind of money into one. Also the TB is going to be moved from the back of the engine where it is now to the front of the engine with the 6.1 intake on, so you're going to be looking at re-fabbing a CAI or new piping to the stock box as well as relocating the TB so cutting and splicing the wire connection now and extending it about a foot or so. Good luck with it though, I would love to see how the conversion settup really works. Its just a bit to $$$ when all is said and done for me.
Thats right on the lining up of the ports. They use to have to port match them but now they sell adapters. But me personally and without being able to look at them, I would think port matching would be best still.

I actually was on the phone with Stu about this type setup just a few days ago and for everything he was describing to me that had to be done v/s the little power to gain, it sounds more for looks than performance. And like i said, theres the intake, fuel rails, injectors, TB, intake adapters and timing cover modification that all is needed. Oh, and the CAI as you mentioned. I had forgot about that. So yeah, that is a lot of money for something only for looks.

Now if I find a guy who rolled and wrecked his ride and wants to part out cheap, then I might do it but if Ive got to go out and pay 500= for a 2lb plastic intake plus everything else.........uh..........no way.

Yours have shorty wires, not the birds nest the 05/06 and under have. I'll be doing the swap on mine soon, the shorty wires come in on friday so over the weekend it'll be done.

I dont see a wire at all....i changed my plugs and the coil has a long rubber wire i guess you would call it that goes right down into the hole and pushes on the end of the spark plug....is that what your calling "shorty" wires?? why are you upgrading is there better performance?? or just want to clean up the look?

Cleaner look for me. Eventually and when I have the funds and find the right deal, I will be moving up to the 6.1 intake.

From what I have read there is maybe 1hp loss switching to the shorties, but I want to do it to clean it up a bit. There is this plastic tray the wires sit on now on top of the engine and let me tell ya, when you drop a socket and it rolls under that plastic piece it is a b*tch to get out.
