i just lowered my rear with 2" shackles...03 1500 reg cab short bed...i measured my hitch before and after and it came out to 2" lower. truck is level and looks real good.

but now there is a slight vibration at 20mph because the pinion angle is off now. does anyone know what that corrent degree is so that i know how much to shim it?

Few more quick questions, bare with me...im new to lowering, would the firestone air suspension lower the rear? would I need bump stops for a 2" drop? would I need an alingement? what effect would removing the overload have? just trying to get a full idea of what id be getting into before I do this...

if you do a full air suspension it will be adjustable. if you get the helper bags they wont lower it, just help when you need the extra support i.e towing, hauling. you shouldn't need to change your bumpstops for a 2" drop especially on a 4x4. i dont you align after working on the rear. removing the overload gives you a little more drop. the is a lowered tech sticky up at the top of the 3rd gen ram section where jason and the other guys who have removed their ol spring could help you better. post up there.

the truck already has bump stops. removing the helper leafs will probably give a softer ride but then you couldnt haul as much. the only thing youd have to worry about is what im trying to fix, in my post above, the pinion angle. if anyone can clarify it for us.

They do not come level due to cargo/trailers. The higher back end allows the rear to lower under pressure. That's why when you tow heavy trailers with a truck that has been leveled, the back end sits lower than the front.

I have a 4x4 and 2" drop shackles made by McGaughys. They are available at moesperformance.com

i have no prob with anything ive done 100mph after removal of the o/l leaf and 2" drop shackles a lil vibration but that was the road my truck has no body roll well no where near as much as it did when i had the stock stuff on it im talkin very little i still dont sit exactly level but i got a full 2" drop with my mods im about 1/4 inch from exact level but the stance is great i cant haul as much but all i haul is my quads and they are on a trailer i have not had any probs with my bumpstops either....and yes i have a section at the top of the page which answers all these questions and gives a ton of info......
