Default Hemi problem

hi there names David and I have some problems. My truck is a 04 1500 hemi with a progamer, cold air, exhaust, on 35 inch tires 64,000 miles

1st. I have had it pop the check engine light on 3 times for a misfire. changed the spark plugs took care of the problems. But this time I had to drive to the auto parts store, and when I was driving home it started ticking real loud. changed the plugs and still ticks, sounds like a lifter or valve tick.

2nd. I'm thinking of doing a 268 comp cam. Wondering if anyone has done it and what is everything I need.

3rd. The famous Hemi tick does anyone know what the dealer ship does and fix it.

4th. has anyone ever take off the cats and what do i need to do to keep the 02s reading ok.

Thanks for reading

Most people will get rid of it by using synthetic oils. I know it helped with mine. But read this thread at this link below on the tick and see if it helps you out.

There are lots of threads on the 268 but as you may know it requires a custom tuning and wideband gauge which all can get costly to some. I was going to go that route also but cant afford it right now

Lots of guys run without cats and I will be doing so soon when I have my LTs put on. Do a search for non-foulers and you will find the threads on how guys stop the CEL from coming on with no cats.

Howdy everyone, Truck started acking different today the ticking went away, truck ran great. Got on the truck once over 4500 rpm and it started to miss and ticking again. got on the truck again and it seems to went away. the tick sounds like a lifter tick but it also sounds like really bad spark knock. thank you for the help everyone.

1)You sure it isn't a broken exhaust manifold stud causing an exhaust leak??
2)If it's a QuadCab, go with the 260 over the 268.
3)It is a valve guide clearance issue.
4)Not sure about the 04, but my 08 cats flow very well and I wouldn't even think about removing them. Get a pair fo high flow cats and use them with the long tube headers. The exhaust smell alone is worth running them. I even put a pair on my Mustang.
