Default Dumped VS Dual

alright so right now I have a magnaflow and it sounds good in cab but not out it is way to quiet. I got it dumped because I didnt have the change to get duals but the question is will it get louder once I get duals out the back instead of having it dumped right before the rear axle thanks for the input boys

I would imagine that it would be quieter inside the cab because it is farther away. I also think that it would be quieter outside of the truck due to the longer distance from the tip to the engine.

If you want it a lot louder, you should go for electric cut-outs.

Yes it will get louder outside once you put duals out the back, probably get louder inside the cab as well. Right now with it dumped it is bouncing the sound off the asphalt which in turn muffles the sound you hear inside and outside, kinda like a natural resonator. This is also why dumping it over the axle or just before the axle can reduce or remove the drone from some mufflers. If you were to rate how loud things are as far as pipe position, from LOUDEST to QUIETEST, generally it would stack up like this:

1 - Side exit BEFORE the rear tires
2 - Side exit AFTER the rear tires
3 - Exit straight back
4 - Dumped BEFORE the axle
5 - Dumped AFTER the axle

Personally I like the tone my current exhaust has dumped over the axle. I a very loud exhaust and yet I can barely hear it in the cab while cruising which is perfect for me. Outside though is a different story, the tone is really nice, loud when you get on it, medium while cruising, and a nice low throaty idle.

If you put tips and longer pipes it will change the tone. I had a hack job exhaust setup, single exhaust with duel 2.25 mufflers, quiet at idle, louder at WOT but extremely restrictive. Now I have a full 3 inch with a 40 style 3 inch muffler run to the rear and dumped at the hitch, you cant see the exhaust at all unless your under the truck. Sounds ten times better, and even picked up some horses!

well i used to have a cutout but got a muffler so i could get tires (deal with the dad) but i miss how good it sounded outside the truck. Right now I like how it still sounds in cab and the tone but just want more volume so I can here it echo of the buildings lol

Well any of the side exits or out the back exits where your pipes are pointing out and away from the truck, in other words not at the ground, will make it louder than it is now cause it wont be muffled by bouncing the sound off the asphalt.
