Default audio upgrade, whats good?

ok i was finally able to get away from work long enough to get my a$$ in gear with my truck mods. im picking up my tires tomorrow morning, wheels will be ready wednesday next week, and my lift kit has been powdercoated and is sitting over at the suspension shop waiting to be installed. also got my gears sitting at my tranny shop waiting for the truck to come back from being lifted, and a superchips cortex on the way.

now i'm ready to start working on my audio system because it sounds like $#!+ right now! i want to get a box under the backseats to hold two 12" subwoofers, replace the speakers in the doors and dash, and mount an amp under the driver's seat. that's about as far as i've gotten since i know very little about these things. there's several 12" 1000w subwoofers on ebay for less than $50 each from various brands. can anyone advise what's good and what to stay away from? i'd like to keep my stock head unit for now so i can splurge and get a really nice one later (something with a big LCD screen and GPS, the whole nine). but for now i'd just like to get the speakers and amp squared away. is 1000 watts too much? i dont need a competition-grade system and i'm not looking to shake the neighborhood, just the cars beside me at the stop lights any help is appreciated guys thanks!

the prefab boxes that go under the seat dont have much airspace, but there are good subs out there that will make the best of whats available. people have made custom boxes from scratch and have had good success. need to know how much mounting depth you will have before you get speakers. JL makes a good shallow mount speaker, others do too, but im not totally sure of their make. alot of stuff says 1000 this 1500 that but most of it is peak power, what you wanna look for is RMS power. Thats the true number youll need.

i checked out the Fox Box, looks good to me and at $175 that's not bad at all. i was planning on spending about that much for a box. i've looked at the JL Audio 10W6's that fit this box though and at $300 a piece thats a bit much than i wanted to spend for one speaker ($600/pair). Fox Acoustics also recommends the Alpine Type R 10s, Punch P3 10s, and Kicker CVX 10s. the kickers are the only speakers i could find anywhere and priced at about $150ea. I know kicker is a pretty good name, but are the speakers gonna take me where i wanna go or should i just suck it up and shell out for the JLs? I don't wanna be disappointed, but comparing to my stock setup that'd be hard to do anyhow lol.

then there's the question of the correct amp and replacements for the doors and dash. any opinions?
