It looks like this has a yearly fee of $29.99. But it all depends upon what it's worth to the person who gets it.
It's not that they just gave the iPhone to AT&T, they bid on it. There is actually a contract that says verizon and AT&T have to have similar prices and rates so neither becomes a monopoly. Verizon has great coverage but as a company they blow. They nickle and dime like no other which is why I switched to AT&T. The iPhone is at&ts main source of income so even when their contract with apple runs out, I'm quite sure they'll draw up a new one before verizon trys to make a move.

1st does this offer delay start for the diesels? 2nd AT&T will continue to be the holder of apple products for a good while to come. As stated they will simply renew. Verizon would have to offer a lot more for apple to switch over. Won't happen but I can't tell you how easy it is to unlock the iPhone and use it on verizon, I've done it over 15 times already and it's stupid easy. Apple made it easy for a reason wink wink. My 3Gs is one of the best electronics I've owned!

Agreed, the 3gs is an amazing phone. I use the remote desktop app frequently for my job amongst the subnetting app and the network ping app. Jailbreaking and unlocking is fairly easy and so worth it. I sold a 3g with a cracked screen that was jailbroken and unlocked with a custome theme for $350 on eBay.

ATT = GSM
Verizon = CDMA

Totally different technologies.

Tmobile, however, and other GSM carriers can "Unlock" an iPhone and provide functionality on their network.

I have read, however, that Apple has hired CDMA engineers...

hmmmmmm
