A few small details, please. Truck year, motor, mods.

I bought my 07' with 21,450 miles. It's got 23,xxx now. Diablo Predator was added maybe a month ago. Removed tune and I still get the noise. It feels fine, but the noise has me freaked out a little.

what size of tires are you running, did you put bigger ones on ?
it seems as though the noise on my truck only appeared when i put large tires on.
I.E was 275/60/R20 and now they're LT285/65R20

My truck was stock at 21k miles. Diablo Predator since and now at 23k miles. Is it even possible to need a U-joint this early ?

Yikes if that's the case.

I have 2006 HEMI 30K, I took mine to the dealer about the noise, they ???reprogramed the shift points??? or something, and also noted they didn't find any problem. Well, mine sounds like someone whacks something from 1 to 2 at WOT still. So I called my local tranny guy and he said it was OK, thas some were just a little noisy, and this was a great tranny, and should last me a long time. I'm expecting from 1-2 some day my tranny will fly to 1000 pieces. I hope my tranny guy is right and it's OK. He has been so far on several issues.

Well I had a 2000 Chevy Silverado 2500 with 410 gears and the 6.0 liter motor. Gibson Side Swept exhaust, Volant CAI, and Hypertech programmer. Truck ran great, but had 120k miles and the U-joints were shot. Never once did I hear a noise while WOT. Shifting from park to gear or R to D, yes.

So I guess I'll just see what my dealer says and go from there. I'm covered til 80k miles.

Update

I took my truck to the dealer. 26,550 miles now. Been running stock tune for 2,500 miles. Still does it.

A few hours later and I got a call. Computer flash update. Hope it's fixed

lol...if only flashing the ecu could solve all of our problems like dealers imply....lol Most liekly it hasn't fixed your issue but I'm crossing my fingers for ya.

i changed the shift points up to 6,000. ALl i got was a huge lag between shifts and then a neck snapping 2nd gear shift. No clacking noise you speak of. i have since lowered the shift to 5800 and the delay is nowhere near as bad.
Clacking sounds like internal noise???
i dunno what else would really cause that under a hard shift? U-joint has constant pressure so that wouldn';t even enter my mind.
Only other thing i can think of is your LSD if you have one. maybe the torque snap of the gear change causes soemthing inside the LSD to grab and make a noise????
