Oil pan replacement??

Default Oil pan replacement??

02 Ram 1500 4x4 quad cab anything special required to change the oil pan, mine is rusted and is seeping oil. how much of a hassle is it to change, any help would be great.

Some say you have to jack the engine or trans to get clearence. We did one on a buddy's 96 2500 4x4 and had to jack the tail shaft of the trans to get clearence for the rear of the lip of the pan.

i don't think i've ever seen an oil pan rust out. are you sure its seeping through the metal ? poke it with a small pick to be sure....

i'm not sure about your 02. for better info - you might want to repost over in the 3rd gen section.

but, on my 01, i remove the braces between engine and trans, starter, and flex plate cover. i don't have to remove exhaust pipes nor lift the engine.

as an alternative, you might clean up the exterior with brake cleaner and lay on a nice big coat of rtv.
