Question Exhaust help...

Ok so im planning on re-doing my exhaust pretty soon. I decided on just changing out my blowmaster muffler for a Borla Pro-XS 3" in dual 2.5" in out to my tips that i have already. BUT....i started thinking and i might be able to get two Magnaflow mufflers and a y pipe instead for around the same price. BUT....can the y pipes be turned around to work for single in dual out? I was thinking i could y pipe my single pipe to the dual out to the dual mufflers and from the mufflers a single out on each to my two existing tips. Would it be too much trouble, or would the sound and performance be worth it?? Anybody running dual Magnaflows? Any help is appreciated....

So you want to stick a y-pipe on the stock single intermediate pipe so you can split your single pipe into two mufflers and then into two tail pipes? Just want to make sure I am following your plan correctly.

haha confusing...but yes. prolly not the best idea, i know. it would prolly be better to just run an x pipe into dual pipes to the mufflers replacing my stock y pipe, instead of running the single back out to duals again.......but sometimes you gotta go with what you can afford lol.

If you are on a budget you can get the magnaflow y-pipe for something like $25 and then just run the single intermediate pipe from the y-pipe into a single in/dual out magnaflow. You will get basically the same effect as what you originally described and it will cost you a lot less than buying two magnaflows.

but my point was to go dual mufflers because i've heard the sound is better and performance as well...not sure if it is true but i know my buddy has dual mufflers on his chebby ss and it sounds freaking amazing....who knows? i might just end up re-doing the whole thing.

If you are running off the stock Y to a reversed magnaflow Y to 2 Magnaflow mufflers (right?) there will be no added performance gain or sound quality like you are wanting. The sound and gains you want would either be running a true duel setup either straight back or with an X pipe getting rid of the stock Y all together. Otherwise you are just making things worse off than they are now

Either true duals or like what was said before run single back to a 1-in/2-out muffler so you get the 2 tips
