Mud and water will screw the truck up no matter what you do overtime.

IMO I would say get yourself another dodge early 80's to mid 90's. Do you really want to destroy a truck you own thousands on?

Mud sucks, trails/rocks are where it's at!

In all seriousness, a locker is the single best thing you can do for off-road preformance.

+1 on locker, you might try to fab up a snorkel, ive been looking around and cant find one for out trucks. maybe a custom skid plate cause you never know when youre gonna run into a hidden stump.... I know you already know about tires, but i went through the deepest, longest mud hole today and these mud graps didnt even think twice about it. Hell i even went back through it so i could pull out a 4wd late model blazer. Guy was so let down he wouldnt even let me take pictures!

you can lincoln lock the rear?, if you want to...itll be FULL POSI ALL THE TIME, so this means it will churp in parking lots n tight corners, when its wet you have to be conscious of the gas pedal..itll spin ya sideways, this only costs gear lube and finding a buddy that can weld...and maybe a 12 pack, and extend all your breather lines, costs like 10 bucks maybe (rear diff, Front diff, tranny n xfer case) annnnnd some way to keep water out of the intake and im with hahns trails/rocks is where its at....n dont say you live n FL cuz theirs still LOTS of clumbing crap around.......you just gotta find it

That's funny right there! Mudding and low budget don't mix. First thing you need is a lift, then gears with lockers front and rear, then tires, then when you blow the tranny or overheat your 4.7, you really keep it low budget. This doesn't even start to account for all the nickle and dime stuff, like coil packs, front hub bearings, u-joints and CV shafts up front etc., etc., etc.

Like was said, buy a beater 3/4 or 1 ton and just use that. Then when the tranny or engine goes, you can park it and work on it when you have the cash.
