Cooling system busted
My water pump has been leaking for a while and it just came this evening. But on my way to work this morning my coolant temp was reading 230 (instead of 185)! The fan would go on, you know, the usual. Then when I hit around 3k rpm on my way home and hit the driveway my radiator was overheating and steaming like crazy. My guess is the water pump is completely shot now, unlike before where it was just an obnoxious leak. I never go to the dealership but am tomorrow to look at a sensor (short?) problem where my abs and e-brake light flash and occasionaly my airbag light with that annoying ring all the time, maybe they can tell me any more issues, but moral of the story is anyone know anything about this problem? My original thought was a busted thermostat or maybe something stuck in there. Beats the hell outta me

i hope you didnt get it too hot... how are you going to get it to the dealership? if its far, i wouldnt drive it until you get that waterpump in... otherwise you are gunna be replacing more than a waterpump
how many miles are on the truck, what motor?
i thought i rememberd hearing of some overheating issues with the 4.7's but i thought that was from bad headgaskets

Change the water pump first, dont drive it to the point of boiling it over, like you have, continueing this behavior will likly cost you head gaskets at very least, or It could go as far as you buying a new engine. IMHO I dont think a $100 dollar waterpump is worth that. Could also be a thrmostat stuck closed but change that when you do the waterpump.
