Default breathing through a bigger straw...

hey guys i think my next set of mods will be opening up the intake and exhaust for better breathing. but since you guys are always so helpful and knowledgeable i'd like some opinions

im dead set on getting the Air Ram Jet Scoop, but they have a nice cold air intake as well for only $150 when i buy the grille scoop. anyone used these before? i can't imagine them being any better or worse than the name brand stuff, but you never know...

im also looking into getting a 68.5mm throttle body. any suggestions as far as this goes? i've heard that i can go up to 70mm or 72mm but i read somewhere that it really gives no additional benefit going above 68.5mm. maybe someone can chime in that has had the 68.5 and later upgraded?

any suggestions on exhaust for us 4.7 boys? im looking at gibson shorty headers, a hi-flow cat, some sort of muffler and a turn down after that (no tailpipes). maybe an electric cut-out too? havent decided on that yet. but i want a deep LOUD throaty exhaust tone that helps my motor breathe as best as possible, and if it scares the $%*! out of innocent bystanders then all the better haha. of course it needs to be CA legal though. any suggestions are greatly appreciated

I love my cherry bomb extreme on my 4.7. Little more power. And loud, you can hear me coming a few blocks away. Also have the k/n intake kit. Both are great, can't help with with throttle body though.

If you want loud and throaty, you want an Aero Turbine. I really don't recommend turndowns though.

i think BFI and vararam(which wouldn't fit your engine w/o heavy mods) are the only 2 that are track proven. air ram should be just as good as an airraid or of k&N. some people are happy with a home brew. go to your local home improvement store and buy the necessary pieces for a fraction of their cost. plus you can tell people you made it.

exhaust is like asking what is your favorite color. i have a Aero Turbine 3030( 3" in/3" out) straight through and is supposed to create a vacuum to remove your exhaust faster. they make 2020, 2525, what ever size you would need. they are loud too. i had mine installed at first with no cats, i couldn't even hear the stereo which is fine by me but i have chillens. so i added a resonator and its perfect. i had one on my 05 hemi, kept the cats and removed all the OEM resonators it sounded good too. some people like magna flow. flo masters are restrictive but sound good, glass paks, cherry bombs. they are all represented on here and people like what they have. +1 on the cut out

You just have to dump it further back. I have no problems with mine being dumped other than the sway bar being a little to close for my liking. I dont know how well it would sound on a 4.7 but the XR1 is a nice loud exhaust setup.

Yes. To me it adds unnecessary corrosive gases to the underside of your truck along with resonance. To each his own though.
