Default Ram 2500 vs. 1500

Hi, I'm new to the forum. Presently own a 1997 Ford F-250. Am going to buy a Ram quad cab. At odds between a 2500 vs. 1500. Like the options/price/appearance of 1500. Like the payload/towing capacity of the 2500. I periodically pull a large boat trailer (not sure of exact tongue weight). All I know is that my F250 doesn't sag whereby a friends F150 does. I also will periodically carry heavy loads of topsoil, stone, etc. I'm looking for a "daily driver" truck which can perform above and beyond now and then. Is there an aftermarket suspension/leaf spring up-grade out there for the 1500 to give me the best of both worlds? Any thoughts?

when I got mine I went to the dodge weeb site and priced both out whith simular options.
all said and done the 2500 was only $500.00 more than the 1500.
reason was that most the options on the 1500 are standard on the 2500.
I just said for $500.00 why the heck not.

My 2500 is currently my daily driver, and other than gas mileage and an occassional tight parking space, I have no issues with it. It's comfortable, roomy, powerful.... what's not to like? And when I need to haul something, pull my trailer, or plow snow, it is able to do all the above with ease. The ride is not bad, but you won't mistake it for a luxury car, either.

My 05 QC's 2500 automatic, is currently my daily driver, and other than gas mileage (16 hwy/11 city) and an occassional tight parking space, I have no issues with it. It's comfortable, roomy, powerful.... what's not to like?

Take them both for a ride. I had a 96 1500 for 9 years. Jan 10th on this year my son rolled it because of black ice. Truck was totaled and the son not one mark. So I went looking took both out for a ride. Priced both... Got the 2500 QC with SUNROOF... Smoking HEMI and all the toys for the BIG BOYS. The deal on the 2500 was the best deal.

I think it will problbly come down to which you can get a better deal on. I have a 2005 Ram 1500 QC with a HEMI and it hasnt let me down yet. I havent put more then about 6 or 700 lbs in the bed yet but even with that i couldnt even really feel it. And when it comes to towing either one is a beast.

Depends... are you going to get a 4x2 or 4x4?

If the answer is 4x2, then consider both. If 4x4, the 2500 is the way to go. You get alot more truck for the same money.
