Home made cold air intake help
I have searched the forums for instuctions on making one. I didnt really find instructions on how to make it. what do i need for it besides pvc ( i did see somewhere where somebody said to use dryer duct) what about hooking up the conection that connects to the factory intake. If anybody feels like helping me out i would apreciate it. I have a 2007 hemi QC. Thanks
1) take off the "hemi hat" which is the big black box on top of the motor that says Hemi 5.7 and throw it in the garbage
2) measure the opening of the throttle body (without orange gasket), drive to the hardware store. (oh shat, you threw away your hemi hat already)
3) take hemi hat out of garbage, reinstall
4) at the hardware store, find a rubber cuppler that will fit over your throttle body, mine had a hose clamp on each end
5) find some pvc pipe of the right size... cant remember what size, but go as big as you can (should be roughly the same size as the TB)
6) get some elbows, depending on how you want to run it you may need 45's or 90's
7) get some pvc glue and paint of your choice
8) go to the auto parts store and get a cone air filter
9) go home and take off your stock airbox and hemi hat *their is a sensor in the hemi hat, turn and pull to remove
10) now throw hemi hat away
11) plan out how you want to run your piping
12) cut glue, etc
13) drill a hole for your sensor roughly in the same location it was in the hemi hat, some use an o-ring to hold it in, i siliconed mine
14) find a way to mount your filter, i used another rubber coupler like i used on the TB
15) make some bracketry to hold your tube
thats about it, i'm getting really bored of typing this, but hope it helps
im sure someone will pop up a pic of theirs, i dont have any on mine right now
