5.7 Hemi VS Chev 350 Vortec
I think your not comparing apples with apples. The new trucks (Hemi or Vortec) have torque management programmed into them in order to save trainees and prolong warranties. I bet those old Chevy's did not have the warranties you get now...
What I recommend is drive two or more HEMI's and Drive a COMPERABLE Vortec and you can see the difference.
I must admit I was and still am a Chevy man (my dogs name is Chevy), but I am very happy with my HEMI and my next dog will be named RAM, DODGE or HEMI.

I ran a 6.0L vortec 2 weeks ago. Dead stop and a few rolls. I kept up in first then when 2nd kicked in im at about the side of his bed. Eventually around 80 he started to pull away. The low end on the hemi sucks compared to the old magnums. I need to run a hemi soon. Anyone around here? I'm gonna be interested in the results.
RCLB and I have problems getting enough traction. LSD rear end and 3.55's. 4.7l. This truck runs the same as my old Chevy which was a 350 5 speed manual ECSB. I will say my old truck got better fuel mileage, I chalk that up to the tonneau cover at the moment.
I must say that after driving the truck for awhile I have seen a real difference from when I test drove it. It must have needed the cobwebs shaken off of it because when I nail it the front end bounces up and it really goes. The mid still licks a bit but I find at around 50 MPH/ 90KPH + the motor really pulls hard. Passing on the highway is king in this truck. I cant wait to tweak it a bit to see what else it can do. As for the comparison, my chevys had a raging bottom, decent mid but didnt accelerate on top like this truck does.
