Changing spark plugs, advantage chevy
After market go fast goodies, more bang for the buck, advantage chevy
Automatic transmissons, advantage chevy

stock Kick but H/P advantage dodge, but a Chevys are a lot lighter truck.

Gear ratios, transmisson shift points, tire tread, traction, will make a chevy quicker than a dodge, or a dodge quicker than a chevy.

I really hate Dodge 3rd gen automatic transmissons and the 1500 Ram rear diffs are no where as strong as a GM.

I hate the frames on GM trucks and ground clearance on a stock GM truck is sucky.

I'm loyal to dodge, and spend a lot of time behind the wheel of a new 09 GMC 2500, it just all boils down to what brand a owner prefers.

Sounds good, thanks for the replies. The problem may or may not lie in the fact that the truck had been sitting for about a month and the battery was low. I did in fact buy the truck today and am going to look at a few minimal performance upgrades( better air filter, maybe an air intake upgrade and exhaust) and see how it improves. Ill have a picture of it soon.

my truck will only spin on cement and some blacktop, and when it rains, all hell breaks loose. after adding my sc 91 it spins a little easier, but not much.
i've ran against my brothers 03 sierra 5.3 regular cab longbed. we were going about 30mph, and he tried to pass me, when he got next to me i floored it, and pulled away the whole time.
he did beat me one time on the interstate uphill, but then again i had a 500lb fourwheeler in the bed, and the dam tranny wouldnt shift down from 3rd
we've never gone from a deadstop tho... im a little afraid. lol
and for the record, the chevys had rear end issues too

Wow. I really had to restrain myself when I first got my pickup. You know, you just have to get on it when you have a new vehicle. Now that the newness has worn off, I rarely chirp 'em unless I'm pulling out into traffic. My pickup stock with 20s and 3.92s will lay rubber from a stop no problem.

I had a 97 GMC RCLB 4x4 Vortec 350 and it would move but I think my Hemi could out do it over all.

My last pickup was a Cummins. Damn it was a fun pickup...

My truck (Stock 2004 w/ 33x10.5 Toyo MT's & 3.55's) has no problem lighting up the rear tires on dry asphalt. Being a RCSB probably helps things out a bit though. I don't know what I'm gonna do once I bolt on the intake, exhaust, 4.56's & diablo tune.

Youre right cordaco, it really isnt comparing apples to apples although with similar displacement engines and with the hemi putting out almost 100hp over the 350( which I think was 260hp but please correct me if Im wrong) and also with 10 yrs of tech(my old truck was a 1996) I would have thought that the hemi would have been more exciting. I am picking up the truck tomorrow morning and I am pretty excited so I will post again after I check out the battery issue and take it for a long drive. Thanks again for the post replies.

Mine rarely spins from a dead stop just flooring the throttle unless it's wet, then look out!!! Has plenty of power all thru the rpm range. Diablosport already fixed the issue I guess. I'm only running the 91 octane setting right now.
Spinning the tires is losing the race. Traction is your friend
I'm sure mine would brake torque rather easy. I just never tried. Tires ain't cheap!!

HAHA, I know, a pair of 20" tires here would set me back about $800 +tax, but my original concern was that a truck with that many horses must be able to chirp the tires and it didnt feel like the truck had the kind of power that it should have. It may sound crazy and Im aware that gear ratios and such make a difference but with all the hype you gotta back it up. I work with a guy who has a chev with a 5.3 (2002) and he can smoke his 265/85/16s no troubles. My truck has michelin LTX M+S 20" tires and although I dont want to burn them off, it would be nice to know that I could if I wanted to with the hemi.( Im a kid at heart)

I ran a 6.0L vortec 2 weeks ago. Dead stop and a few rolls. I kept up in first then when 2nd kicked in im at about the side of his bed. Eventually around 80 he started to pull away. The low end on the hemi sucks compared to the old magnums. I need to run a hemi soon. Anyone around here? I'm gonna be interested in the results.
