Default I NEED HELP! To Max out my Towing!

Hi Guys,

I Have a 2008 Ram 1500, 4x4, 5.7 Hemi, 6 foot box, Quad Cab, No Tow Package, 20 Inch Rims, It has the better towing gears (3.92's i think it is)

Can you folks give me some easy to do upgrades to make towing easier for me? A bit more power, ways to ease the stress on tranny and engine, any help will do.

I'm wide open for any suggestions.

I'm towing about 6300lbs....29 foot travel trailer.

Thanks,

Phil

First I would get some airbags. if you don't plan to lift your truck then THESE are really good and super easy to install. If you are going to lift, then get THESE.
They will level out your truck and ride and handle nice. A handheld tuner like Diablo Predator or Superchips will be good for your year. Superchips is closer to full tranny control for upshifts and downshifts. My truck shifts so much better than stock with my Diablo.

if your trailer has brakes, you'll want a trailer brake controller. They aren't that hard to install if you can do a little wiring.

like dog said and you can upgrade your gears to 4:10 or 4:56 and your 20's are not helpin out at all get a 17" rim.
or do like i did get a 2500 with 4:10 gears i had a 1500 with 3:92's with 20" then ugraded to 4:56 sucked compared to the 2500 with 4:10's and 17's IMO

The truck actually drops down very little in the back with the Stabilizer Type Hitch

I heard that I lose about a 1000lbs towing potential with 20's......But how is it actually affecting my truck...Higher Revs? Hurting Tranny?....
