dumb questions 4x4 or 4x2
hi all
I know that 4x4 is for off road, however in normal situation's, riding in city, hwy, 4x4 is better that 4x2??
I set my cruise control in 75 mph in hwy in my 4x2 QC's 05 4.7 L, the performance in a 4x4 would it be better?
I believe that the following year I will buy a durango and I have doubts if the behavior for my habitual routine in a 4x4 will harm me
tnx's in advance

Look under performance parts .... that o pipe will enable any 4x4 to out perform a 2wd on any surface as well as get better mileage...
But seriously..... a 4x4 will give you better traction off road, when you have the 4wd engaged. On the hwy, you won't have the 4wd engaged, so all it is going to do is weigh more and suck more gas. If you were rally racing a subaru or something ... then the 4wd might come in handy on the hwy....
Unless you are wheeling or want the look of a wheeler, get a 2wd.

Not a dumb question. Depending upon where you live, 4x4 can provide increased traction on the road also. However, it's designed to be used only in low traction conditions. Not for everyday driving. Like locked up stated, you'll normally get slightly worse fuel economy due to the extra weight of the 4x4 components. Another thing you might want to consider is that 4x4 maintain their resale value better and are in higher demand for used trucks.
Don's correct...never use 4wd on dry streets. As he says, use it for low traction situations only. If on streets, make sure there's enough snow/ice/maybe rain to allow for some slight spinning of the tires. What happens is that the transfer case is sending out power to both sides. In a turn, unless one side can spin slightly it will bind due to the slightly shorter radius on the inside of the turn. Net result, after too much of that, trashed transfer case and boocoo bucks to fix.
I use my 4x4 when the snow covers the road. It gives you more control of the road. Less chance of slipping around. Also makes you drive more carefully .Don't forget that there are two different 4x4 drives on the Ram. Normal 4x4 and low low 4x4.
thanks to all
I believe that would need the option of 4x4 maybe 1% of the use of the durango, but special occasions, therefore 99% serious normal conditions for a 4x2, however when needs it wanted to have it (to drive in sand, river cruises,...)
